Affordable Housing
At Just Working Construction, we recognize the importance of social responsibility as an organization. The average cost of a Canadian home has more than doubled since 2000, while wages remain stagnant with minimal increase. We are in the midst of a housing and homelessness crisis, where many are not able to afford to live comfortably in Canada or purchase a house.
We work with multiple non-profits and faith groups to build and create welcoming, warm, and affordable housing for fellow Canadians and newcomers to our community. This can include Tiny Homes, well-built housing, and co-housing/shared spaces.
Tiny Homes/Laneway Homes
The average size of Canadian homes has increased by almost double since 1950. Many prefer an abundance of space, yet little of that space is functional. In a Tiny Home, 100% of the space is functional for the people living in it. As a revolutionary, affordable, and visually attractive housing option, Tiny Homes are ideal for everyone from students to retirees.
At first, Tiny Homes were just a trendy form of shelter for young people, but now they’re finding a much more meaningful purpose in attainable housing. Tiny Homes add to the supply of housing in an affordable, safe, and clean way. Tiny Homes are also a practical way to way to create multigenerational dwellings.
In June of 2021, Kitchener approved the building of detached dwellings on personal property. This allows for housing such as Tiny Houses to be built in backyards and laneways. At Just Working Construction, we are one of the first official Tiny Home builders in the KW area, bringing our experience in other green and socially responsible building practices to the table. Affordable Housing
Having a home that is affordable and safe is one of the most important factors of a person’s health and wellbeing. We are a part of the consulting, designing, and building phases of all our affordable housing builds. Our emotional and physical involvement in these types of projects ensures our highest level of work. Seeing the smiles on families’ faces while moving into homes we built makes us proud to provide the services we do.
