By providing job opportunities and affordable housing for newcomers, Jeff Van Gyssel is always looking out for his neighbours
After Jeff Van Gyssel said he encountered God, he turned a new leaf from drugs and alcohol 10 years ago and decided to spend the rest of his life loving his neighbours.
While volunteering at a refugee transitional centre in Kitchener called Welcome Home, he met new immigrants who talked about their struggles with depression and isolation in another country.
“I was hearing story after story (about) them not being able to find work and for anyone to give them, really an opportunity to prove their worth and in the trades,” said Van Gyssel. He wanted to do something to help.
