Just Fairview: Pending Rain

Last week was an eventful week at the house. One of those weeks where i could visit the house every evening and watch it transform before my eyes.

The plan was originally to take the roof off of the house the thursday before, and have the 2nd story and a new roof built by the next thursday after. Until we saw rain forecasted for the weekend.

Rain all weekend long would destroy our roofless house so we decided to wait till the monday. That left 4 days to build. This was all well and good until we started seeing rain in the forcast. It started with a 50% chance on the thursday and so we began to hope it would blow over. All week long we checked the forcast with anticipation, hoping it would move to the friday and disappear but it just kept getting worse.

At the job site, things were going slower then anticipated. The roof came off relatively smoothly on the Monday,

The framing however, had a few more complexities, especially with regards to firewalls between the 2 units, that were causing the framing to not quite get to where they wanted by Wednesday evening.

It was inevitable. 100% chance of rain and 0% chance of roof. Nothing left to do but pray. Sorry to all our farming friends but we begged God for no rain. They must of been praying the opposite because we did get rain. However, I do believe God was protecting our house because we did not get half as much rain as was in the forcast. We were expecting rain all day long but instead we got 2 half hour long sprinkles. I think maybe God was answering both prayers at once.

With a roof finally up on Friday we had no concerns about the pending rain for the weekend. We actually decided that this spot in the front might become our new favourite spot to hang out during thunderstorms.

The kids learned a life lesson too. When in doubt. Pray. Driving to our house during a downpour with tornato warnings on Sunday, the kids were scared so they decided to pray. The rain let up almost instantly and it was the most beautiful sign for God to let them know he’s listening to them too.

“LOOK MOMMY” SHE SAYS “I’M KEEPING THE RAIN AWAY”

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
